Due to implementation of the project of the Fire and Rescue Department under the Ministry of the Interior together with the Fire Fighters’ Training School and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the title “Strengthening of Rescue Capabilities in Civil Protection and Emergency Situations Service of the Republic of Moldova under the Ministry of the Interior” (project No. K2016-VB-MD-050) and which is financed by the assets of the Development Cooperation and Assistance to Democracy Programme of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania on the 17-21 of October, 2016 the Fire Fighters’ Training School will be visited by a delegation of Civil Protection and Emergency Situations Service of the Republic of Moldova under the Ministry of the Interior. The aim of the visit – to be familiarized with the Lithuanian readiness to react in case of emergency situations and to eliminate ravages of traffic accident. The five people’s delegation will consist of the chiefs of regional civil protection and emergency situations services. In the course of this visit the guests from Moldova will meet with the leadership of the Fire and Rescue Department under the Ministry of the Interior, will be familiarized with the state fire and rescue service of the Republic of Lithuania, officers’ preparation and their refresher courses, they will also visit fire and rescue department’s brigades of Vilnius county, Emergency Response Center, Fire Protection Technical Exhibition. As well as that the delegation will have a possibility to see the present capital of Lithuania – Vilnius and the former one – Trakai.

On the 12-16 of September, 2016, the delegation from the Fire Fighters‘ Training School: the chief Valdas Krulikauskas, the head of Civil Protection Training Division Renata Baniuliene, the head of Training Division Gintaras Paulauskas and the head of Practical Training Division Darius Janavicius implementing the project of Fire and Rescue Department under the Ministry of the Interior together with the Fire Fighters’ Training School “Strengthening of Rescue Capabilities in Civil Protection and Emergency Situations Service of the Republic of Moldova under the Ministry of the Interior” (project No. K2016-VB-MD-050) which is financed by the assets of the Development Cooperation and Assistance to Democracy Programme of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania visited Civil Protection and Emergency Situations Service of the Republic of Moldova under the Ministry of the Interior (hereinafter – Service). The aim of the visit – to familiarize with the Service’s readiness for emergency situations and rescue works in case of transport accident. There were some meetings with the leadership of the Service arranged, during which the colleagues from Moldova presented their order to react in case of emergency situations, together with the leadership from the Service Training Center specialists’ training questions were discussed. As well as that a seminar for 20 Moldovan specialists about civil protection and emergency situations management was organised. During this visit firefighters-rescuers’ brigades were visited, the delegation were familiarised with the organisation of elimination of events’ ravage, used fire fighting and rescue enginery and equipment.

On the 17-21 of October, 2016, the delegation from Civil Protection and Emergency Situations Service of the Republic of Moldova under the Ministry of the Interior will come to the Fire and Rescue Department and the Fire Fighters’ Training School.

2016-08-22

On the 22-26th of August 2016 practical training for the second course students from the Main School of Fire Service in Warsaw at Fire Fighters’ Training School is being held. In Poland they are taught to become rescue service officers. Already several years in a row students from this one of the main partner institutions on close cooperation basis have been invited to participate in practical training organized in Lithuania what makes the students very happy due to a good possibility to improve their practical skills.

There are 23 students and two teachers from Poland. During all this week the students will be familiarized with fire machinery and equipment used for training as well as the school’s Special physical and vocational training complex with a swimming pool for divers training. The guests will also have the following activities: observation of combustion processes;

door opening and entrance into smoky room; use of rescue ropes when doing rescue works at a height and depth; search for victims in a smoky environment (dummy of container); rescue works in difficult conditions (limited space, great physical exertion, hurdle); car wrecking tactics; rescue works on water (swimming pool).

On Friday there is planned Final joint exercise based on special scenario, after that conclusions and certification by the chief of the Fire Fighters’ Training School.

2016-08-19

On the 17-18th of August 2016 the Chief of the Fire Fighters’ Training School Valdas Krulikauskas visited Estonia where with the directors of Latvian and Estonian fire and rescue service training institutions the questions of already implemented actions and the ones still foreseen in 2016 were discussed. During the meeting which was held at Rescue College of Estonian Public Service Academy a lot of time was spent on discussions about the advantages and disadvantages of training systems which are applied in all the three institutions. The director of Fire Safety and Civil Protection College Ainars Pencis noticed that neighbouring countries had much better conditions for practical training. The director of Estonian Rescue College Ain Karafin shared the news about the upcoming changes concerning training process organization issues in Estonia. In the course of the meeting the plans of infrastructure development at Fire Fighters’ Training School were also presented. Sharing the common problems which are being faced by all the three partner institutions gave a good possibility to look for common solutions. Similar meetings are planned in the future as well.

2016-07-15

On the 18-19th of July 2016 Civil Protection and Emergency Service employees from Moldova will be trained at Fire Fighters Training School. They will be trained how to work with fire and rescue vehicles and equipment which will be passed on by Lithuania. During the training twelve employees will be learning how to use fire and rescue engine Ford when providing water and foam, will be familiarized with the engine‘s driving peculiarities, will be trained how to work with rescue equipment present in the engine. On the 20th of July 2016 ten fire and rescue engines Ford will be passed on to Civil Protection and Emergency Service under the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Moldova.

On the 8-9th of June 2016 practical exercises for graduating courses organized by the Estonian Academy of Security Sciences took place in Estonia. More than 90 students from the hosting country and the representatives from Lithuanian, Finish, Polish, Latvian and German fire fighters training institutions participated. During that kind of exercise various accidents were simulated and it had lots of benefits because students from different countries could share the gained knowledge and solve certain rescue situations all together. Such kind of training has become a nice tradition since 2009.

2016-06-07

On the 6-9th of June 2016 in Poland XIII International Rescue Workshop ‘FENIX’ was organised which was initiated by one of the main Fire Fighters Training School’s international partners – the Main School of Fire Service in Warsaw (further – SGSP). Along with the III year SGSP students as well as the students from Lithuania the young future firefighters from Belarus, Latvia, Estonia, France, Germany, Ukraine, Romania and the United States of America participated. Each day the training schedule included different rescue situation (fire, chemical accident, car accident) and the final day was intended for one big final exercise.

Such events are great opportunities to exchange knowledge and experience and enable the participants to practice in highly realistic emergency conditions improving their skills as firefighters and rescuers.

2016-06-02

On the 2nd of June 2016 in Riga, Latvia practical exercise was held which was hosted by Fire Safety and Civil Protection College.

The general legend of the training was that there had occurred crash accident with leakage of chemical substances on the railway, the tank car was involved and there were a lot of injured people. All participating special services were involved in order to stop the leakage, to evacuate the injured and to do all the rest necessary operations. The students who participated in the exercise had the task to ensure water supply to the place of accident in case when possible to use water pond was 400 m away from the accident place. At the end of the exercise a general discussion was held when various questions related to the exercise and accident were considered, occurring problems and possible solutions were talked over.

Participation in such training is a great opportunity for exchange of knowledge and experience.

From the 30th of May till the 3rd of June 2016 the Fire Fighters Training School (further – School) was implementing one of the implements foreseen in the international cooperation plan for 2016 between the School and the Rescue College of Estonian Academy of Security Sciences. Due to the plan the School held a training course of rescue works at a height and depth using high-scaler rescuers’ equipment. Five Estonian representatives took part (1 teacher and 4 students). The goal of such kind of training was to provide the knowledge and practical skills of rope rescue. The course was oriented to practical skills’ improvement.

Fire and Rescue Department under the Ministry of the Interior together with Fire Fighters Training School are implementing a project “Strengthening of Rescue Capabilities in Civil Protection and Emergency Situations Service of the Republic of Moldova under the Ministry of the Interior” (project No. K2016-VB-MD-050) which is financed by the assets of the Development Cooperation and Assistance to Democracy Programme of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In the course of this project the good experience of Lithuania in the field of preparing for emergency situations and emergency situations management organisation with the officers of Civil Protection and Emergency Situations Service of the Republic of Moldova under the MOI will be shared.
